I could go on and on but I want to leave for an MTB ride before it rains. Old Maverick was a dyed in the wool Republican and his actions in the Congress prove it. Sure you have to respect his time as a POW. It was a hell I wound't wish on anyone except for Donald Trump.
But Really? Who the fuck votes against wheelchair ramps?
John McCain's true legacy? Giving the AltRight a ticket to the Big Show when he picked Caribou Barbie as his VP in 2008.
War Hero McCain:
Article III:
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
War Hero McCain:
People praise McCain for not leaving the Hanoi Hilton when he had the chance. The reality of the situation was he just could not take a parole. Article Three of The Code of the U.S. Fighting Force prevented him from leaving.

Plus POWs had their own code, "First In, First Out."
Every man ponders how he would handle torture, would he break and give up his mates or be like 007 and give the enemy nothing. From what I have read, everybody breaks in the end. McCain endured what we can only imagine in the darkest regions of our psyche. Does that make him a military hero? Yes It does. Does that make him a good "American" or a praise worthy Senator or qualified to be, "The world's most powerful man?" The answer is an wholehearted NO!
Captain McCain was basically of the same lineage as Lieutenant Dan, "somebody in his family fought and died in every single American war." So leaving his comrades behind would have been not just a military embarrassment but a family disgrace.
With a granddaddy who was an Admiral and his father also an Admiral and commanding the Pacific Fleet. No fucking way was John Sidney McCain going to bail on his fellow prisoners.
All of the stories claiming McCain intentionally bombed women and children have been debunked. No, he was not bombing a light bulb factory. His target on October 26, 1967 was a power plant. One can only assume the power plant was operated by civilians. Most likely adult men, not women and children. Never the less, the facts are he should have never been over Hanoi dropping bombs there or anywhere in Vietnam.
The Vietnam war was constitutionally illegal because Congress never formally Declared War on North Vietnam. In that sense John McCain was a war criminal. Actually the last time the USA fought a legal war was 1945.
In summery John McCain became a prisoner of war in a conflict the USA started on foreign soil by fomenting a coup against President Ngo Dinh Diem of South Vietnam, Read Cable 243.
The score:
War Hero? That's for you to decide.
Praise Worthy Senator? Fuck No!
Great America? No better than any other fascist.
